2010 Youth Archery and Shotgun League

The 2010 GLSRC youth shooting program began on Saturday June 19th. The youth league shoots every Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. through August 14th (except July 4th weekend). Youth can shoot one weekend or every weekend. All guns and ammunition are provided by the club. There is no charge to participate! There will be a cookout each Saturday following the day's events.

The Great Lakes Sports & Recreation Club hosts this annual event free of charge thanks to the many generous sponsors of our youth program. The club works with many local area conservation and outdoor groups to help underwrite the cost of shotguns, fees, ammunition, food, etc.

Parents: At least one NRA safety instructor or hunter safety instructor will be present during each session. Parental permission is required and parental involvement is encouraged. Instructors will have strict control over the range during each shoot. Youth partticipants may use an appropriate shotgun of their own or one provided by the club. Trap shooting mechanics, .22 rifle shooting and archery shooting fundamentals, and firearm safety and handling will be taught in a controlled environment. In addition, participants will be taught how to clean their firearms.

Youth will be able to shoot any Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. during the time frame from June 19th through August 21st. Additional details are available by calling the club at 786-2911.

The Great Lakes Sports & Recreation Club wishes to thank the many sponsors and supporters of it's youth archery and shotgun leagues. Last year, nearly twenty sponsors contributed cash, equipment, ammunition and coaches in support of the club's annual youth league event.

Last year's eight week league included nearly 50 different boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 17, with an average of approximately 15 participants each week.

Thanks to the generosity of the following sponsors, there was no charge to join the youth league!
